South Forest Beach overview

Hilton Head Island does not have a "downtown" as most cities do, but the South Forest Beach area comes as close to a downtown as we have. This is where the most popular public beach is located. There are a great many shops and eateries, and at the beach you will find restrooms and changing booths. Access to the beach is via mats that are designed to support wheel chairs and wheeled carts, etc.

Parking is nearby. There is limited handicap parking just off Coligny circle at the beach entrance.

This area is located where Pope Avenue ends at the beach at Coligny circle. There are three main commercial areas here: Beach Market, the elevated shops nearest the beach; Coligny Plaza, across North Forest Beach Drive and adjacent to the circle; and Heritage Plaza, next to Coligny Plaza. Across the street from Heritage Plaza is the Circle shopping center which offers restaurants, a grocery and miniature golf.
